Everything feels a little more romantic in winter.
The short days that melt into warm evenings by the fire… the warm glow from people’s windows… the gentle, muted tones of the winter landscape. So much to adore. xx
Danielle and Patrick are a couple I felt very lucky to have met, and to have photographed a tiny part of their story. Their winter wedding in Hanmer Springs felt so utterly them… full of thought and care, understated elegance, appreciation for their close family and friends… all capped off with a toast to the All Blacks and an amazing dance floor. 😀
Danielle and Patrick held their wedding at beautiful Braemar Lodge in Hanmer Springs. A Sunday wedding meant guests could all stay in the lodge that evening… which gave their day such an amazing, close-knit feeling. xx
There had been dreams of maaaayyyybe heading outside for an outdoor ceremony… but as the rain ran down the windows, things were definitely moved indoors. And it was perfect – an intimate spot for a wintery day. xx
As guests enjoyed canapes, we braved the mud and rain for the riverbed. This bridal party were amazing!
Along for the day was friend and wedding photographer extraordinaire Paul Tatterson. Such a special treat working with him… I love this frame of his, below. xx
This little sign below lit up with LEDs… Patrick made it. xx
If you weren’t already in love with cosy winter weddings, I think the view that evening from Braemar Lodge would have sealed it. 5pm passed, the sky darkened to a deep ink, and fairy light lit up the venue with a warm glow.
