Meet our dear friends Gareth and Mirabel. These two were technically married a couple of years ago in Japan, but last Saturday they had a proper wedding celebration… a gift to their friends and family, but also a chance for everyone to have a good ol’ knees-up and show these two just how awesome they are. x
Saturday morning, Mirabel was at her home surrounded by creative friends… she herself is also a crazily talented artist (you might have seen her adorable recent work).
These two have the greatest entranceway ever… yes that is a giant blue kitten painting. 😀 And the flowers, oh the flowers! Again contributed by a friend…
This tiny bunting was sent from a friend overseas who couldn’t make it… it was just so adorable. x
Annie made a last minute repair to the dress, which Mirabel found in Paris in a vintage market… swoon. 😀
The wedding itself was held in a quiet family backyard, just a few blocks away in St Albans. And it was utterly perfect.
Hehehehe, the car horn honked all the way up the road as the girls approached, while the cans rattled behind them…
Being already paper-married, Mirabel and Gareth were free from the technical bits that most weddings require… and gosh that made it special, because everything they included was there to beautifully reflect them.
Officiating was another dear friend of ours, Alice. Â She was the perfect non-celebrant, creating an atmosphere of spontaneous celebration and twinkly eyes.
Gareth’s brother gave this utterly perfect reading… “… and I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, ‘If this isn’t nice, I don’t know what is.” – Kurt Vonnegut.
Mirabel’s mother and father are musicians, and played the couple up and down the aisle. Utterly gorgeous. x
Although big floofy portraits weren’t a priority for these two, we took five minutes to roam the gorgeous garden. These smiles!!!!!
St Albans was a rowdy place last Saturday. Late in the afternoon the guests formed a procession and walked to the reception location, led by a piper.
The Scottish Society hall is in the heart of Edgeware, and it was utterly transformed. x
Upon reflection this man has featured in my last few wedding posts! Last one I swear! x My darling husband was the MC…
For the guest book, guests took polariods of themselves and wrote a message.
A toast to the Queen… 😀
Then Javier Jarquin, a friend of ours who’s currently killing the comedy world in England and Europe, gave his best man’s speech… damn this guy can give a speech. Â I loved the sly animal puns to honour Mirabel… otterly great. x
A personalised story about the couple…
Oh my gosh!!! Hehe… Gareth’s dad reminisced about the lullaby he used to sing Gareth… and reenacted it. 😀
See that banner in the background? Mirabel’s friend Annie had made it for them. Amazing!!! ‘All our stars are out’ is their unofficial motto. x
This here is a Orcadian Wedding Cog, which our comedian/playwright friend Dan Bain made… he’s also a closet barrel maker. 😀
Minisnap played out the night awesomely. x
Much love you twinkly two. x
